energy or high-tech manufacturing don't end up in countries like china. now, already i've put forward a detailed plan that allows us to make these investments while reducing our deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade. i want to be clear, i'm not weded to every detail of my plan. i'm open to compromise. i'm open to new ideas. i'm committed to solving our fiscal challenges. but, i refuse to accept any approach that isn't balanced. i'm not going to ask students and seniors and middle class families to pay down the entire deficit while people like me making over $250,000 aren't asked to pay a dime more in taxes. i'm not going to do that. and i just want to point out, this was a central question during the election. it was debated over and over again, and on tuesday night we found out that the majority of americans agree with my approach. and that includes democrats, independents and a lot of republicans across the country, as well as independent economists and budget sperpts. that's how you reduce the deficit. with a balanced approach. so our job now is to get a majority in congress

and most of the energy that comes into san francisco is piped in from other places so we have to look at everything from a regional perspective. in terms of what we're doing with our infrastructure, we look at many risks to our systems to improve their reliability, both gas and electric. while we talk about earthquakes quite a bit, we look more at ground movement in general, whether it be earthquake related, land slide related, but in terms of our reliability all those risks are looked at and there's on-going efforts to increase the reliability of both the electric system and the gas system throughout the san francisco area and through the northern and system part of our state. we have hundreds of millions of dollars of pipeline replacement happening which is a major risk in a major earthquake. most people are aware in loma prieta the pipeline held pretty well but we are trying to build in a better manner to withdraw earthquakes. on the electric side, things are pretty well proat the timed already. things shut themselves off. depending on the magnitude of the earthquake, it could

the showers running parallel to the coastline. the energy associated with this is headed out of the bay area. there is little thing called lake effect snow in the sierra nevada where it piles up on the east side of the lake. up to three inches around carson city and reno. you can see it blowing over the lake. it pictures up the lake and dumps it on the other side. definitely some travel troubles in the high country but degree over freezing in santa rosa. oakland, dropped into the 40s as well as san francisco with some warmer air headed in into a redwood city. chilly mid 40s from livermore to concord and san jose. this morning with a little bit of wind out there, you have managed to stay around 50 degrees. gusty north winds, half moon bay up to 20 miles an hour and west wind has allowed you to stay well into the 40s this morning. these winds will be backing off late tonight. that is going to bring in another frosty start to the day tomorrow. sunny and cool today. a little warmer to start the week. that will be monday and tuesday. chance of showers could return wednesday into thursday. not muc

-- prince of earmarks and a reformed non- earmarker will stay, and where health care and energy policy, a committee of jurisdiction there, that chairman will be staying another two years. ways and means, which might see a lot of action with fiscal cliff and tax reform, entitlement stuff, always goes through ways and means -- dave camp, like fred upton. judiciary committee, he will make a bid for the science committee. he will find himself in competition with james sensenbrenner, who indicated he is interested in that job as well. ralph hall, the chairman now, term limits. transportation and infrastructure headed by john mica, he is term-limited in that role, and there are a few people will have seniority and the either have committee assignments or are not looked upon as viable. it looks like we are passing the baton to a new generation. bill schuster, the son of bud shuster, old transportation committee chairman, he is making a very strong play for the chairmanship of that. that will be just in time for congress to start thinking about another reauthorization of transportation program
